Questions people ask
What is the difference between 301 and 302?+
A 301 says the page moved for good, so Google moves the ranking to the new address. A 302 says it is temporary, so Google keeps the old one.
Are redirect chains bad?+
Each extra hop slows the page and can lose some ranking value. Point old addresses straight at the final page.
How many redirects are too many?+
One is fine. Two is worth fixing. Google stops following after about ten.
